It's not that readers are being pedantic...it's that you're beating the snot out of a dead horse. It's all been discussed before and you add very little in terms of depth as the majority of your problems have been over analyzed as is. That coupled with the incredibly awful solutions makes it hard to give any critical commentary on your original post.

Nope. If you can't communicate, that's your problem. If they won't listen when you do communicate, then having a little blue bar isn't going to help.
Bad Idea.

XP and Fame levels mean nothing, at least in PvE (maybe they actually mean something in PvP, I donno). I agree with level. If they mean something for PvP then do it there - leave PvE alone.

Totally agreed.

If players really need to use numerics in local chat( can't see why...) they can type ' three', 'six' or whatever.Of course, no such restrictions need exist on whisper channels.

A better trade system needs to be put into place before anything like that is done. In the mean time, a filter should be put in place to force all standard trade message types to be forced to the trade channel if typed in All - and the ability to report and sensure players who won't quit spamming the All channel should be instituted.
Oh - where is #5?

If you add too much new info to the screen, it might get annoying and not very intuitive to play. I don't want windows to pop up everytime I scroll over people, or even if I click on them. And I certainly don't want more stats bars in my screen. I like it just the way it is: basic, nothing too much. If you make them like with pup up windows, such as the battle stats under 'O' it would be better. But then again, people would constantly leave it on for the energy.
Maybe a pop up window with stats of other players, but nothing more. GW is a pretty fast game in intense pvp, you don't want to have too much info cluttering your screen, that would make the game feel cloumsy.

Sorry your first post was recieved badly. Your ideas are good ones if you just came from the game without reading the forum, but that is what makes my fellows here angry. From your suggestions it appears that you haven't read much of the forums and most people on here are sick of seeing the same thing over and over again, and a few are a bit overzealous in "teaching" people to read before posting (by teaching I mean berating until the person either leaves or learns to search).
Back to your original topic. I agree wholeheartedly with suggestion #1 and #3. A tiny blue bar in the party window would be a welcome alternative to me constantly asking what my friends' energy is. I would much rather talk about more important things than their energy. If someone doesn't want that blue bar because of clutter then they could just toggle it off.
#3 would indeed make the repeat missions more interesting and make the newbies not be at such a disadvantage to the warrior who rushes through the mission and flames people when they go the wrong way. It made me feel stupid my first time through when some Uber 1337 retard thought he was so smart because he had failed the mission so many times he had memorized the placement of every single monster.

The problem with trading in chat is simply that, trading in chat. The easiest way to fix that is to remove the incentive and to create new alternative methods to trading. A "trade house" zone or a "in game ebay style interface" would both solve the problem. Having a trading house pushes all the traders into a zone where they know they will find buyers/sellers. Ebay style trading is also preferable because auctions tend to drive up prices.

There is a huge thread about an auction house system. It is a very good read and one of the few threads with very little flaming http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=20264

showing fame and rank should be optional. Not everyone want to show their fame

Show each team members blue energy bar just under their health. It will have to be thin to fit, but thats ok.

GW PROBLEM 2
Difficult to find good players for a team or mission. You just don't know what you are getting. And asking them about their experience or fame can be answered as they want...
INTELLLGENT SOLUTION 2
When you click on a persons name, it shows not only level but their experience point and fame levels. Of course, this is not an absolutely reliable measure but it is better than current measure i.e. none.

GW PROBLEM 3
Lots of people learn the layout of monster postions through over-play.
Is this a measure of skill? No. Does this reduce the challenge? Of course
INTELLLGENT SOLUTION 3
Randomise some monster placements. This also makes it more interesting for repeat players.

GW PROBLEM 4
Chat channels swamped with people selling items and not using correct channels. This is a huge hinderance to new players who cannot even talk on Local channel because of people trying to sell gold dye(yawn), etc.
INTELLLGENT SOLUTION 4
Remove the trade channel enirely (yes the trade channel).
Any sentence submitted to local Chat channel that contains 'wts' or 'selling' or possibly even numerical characters is re-routed to nowhere, and player receives a message "to sell use trade house"
If players really need to use numerics in local chat( can't see why...) they can type ' three', 'six' or whatever.Of course, no such restrictions need exist on whisper channels.
Players can put up to x number of items in a For Sale Box, much like storage, along with an asking price. There is no fuss, no haggling, no scamming(emphasis on this) .
Buyers can search by simple item type, price range.Thats it.

you forgot to include the fact you have to spend a half hour spamming the chat channel trying to find a group. And the fact that you spend more time TRYING to form a group than actually playing.

IF you read their last fan site friday they said they were looking for a way to make it so that people can put a little icon over their head that basically means "LFG"
